The steps in the Gonstead System include:
This step involves observing the patient’s posture, gait, and physical signs of inflammation near the joints to confirm findings from other diagnostic methods.
Both Static and Motion Palpation are used to pinpoint areas of involvement by assessing changes in contour, tone, texture, and temperature on the patient.
A dual probe instrument is used to conduct a bilateral temperature comparison of the spine to locate areas of inflammation and assess subluxations.
Full Spine X-rays are essential in the Gonstead System as they provide accurate vertebral count, spinal contour representation for posture analysis with axial weight bearing, and reveal issues beyond the chief complaint.
